A solid entry book. Truthfully I started this book with the audiobook and could not get into it at all; I find that it did not do the series justice. I had to wait to get my hands on the physical version instead. Malice wasn't incredible but it was a good read, Gwynne writes action scenes incredibly enrapturing your attention at ease.
I look forward to reading Valour and seeing where the series heads.

The world building and character building was so so good! I was hooked and fell in love with characters so fast only to find out some of my favorite characters are on the bad side of the war!! Cannot wait to get the second one and see what happens. So so so good!!

This is the most boring, most convoluted, most info-dumpy, most shallow fantasy book I've read in a while. There isn't a single character with any depth. Very dude-bro-y.

Great first entry. Slightly predictable but I feel as though there are more twists coming in later books. Takes a LONG time to build up but the pay off is mint.

It first started a bit slow and but I knew it would pick up the characters who I thoughtq were bland blossomed into fully fleshed out people. I got to care and love them. Then the plot thickened and I was engrossed I had bad feelings about some and good about others. This is the saddest ending I have ever read. And I am incredibly excited to read the next book albeit terrified that I will be hurt again. In fact I know I will be hurt worse. I’ve never had a book pull at me like this did at the end I didn’t know how much I loved the characters until they were gone. I just don’t know what else to say. I usually dislike multiple povs in books. I disliked ASOIAF because if this but somehow this book managed to do it in a way that I loved and I couldn’t put the book down.
