The only reason I kept going with this book was because of the plot, which I found interesting. However, there are three reasons that did not make this a stellar read:
  1. The romance between Andre and Zoey was super insta-lovey (they encountered each other in a bar years ago, but upon meeting each other officially, they fell in love after three days (yuck)).
  2. Later on, Zoey makes a stupid decision even though she knows better and just...why?
  3. When it came time to reach the peak of the action, it came upon a plateau. Instead of some battle between the Hunters and the vampires, the Hunters left. Then, the ending was just Zoey bonding with Andre, her becoming a vampire, and the epilogue was setup for the next book. Unfortunately, it was rather disappointing. It would have been better if the Hunters made a full on attack, failed, and were forced to retreat.
On top of everything, this book was not edited very well, and you could see throughout the book. To say, I don't think I'll be continuing the series. The plot kept me interested enough to read this one, but not enough for the whole thing.
