It's never predictable, also owing to the fact that you never stop learning new details about the worlds. The characters are likeable, the story is super interesting and there are some high intensity moments in the book that keep you on your toes. And, as an extra "covid benefit", getting to explore fictional galaxies while you personally can't travel is just a very nice bonus.
If I have one gripe with the book, it's that I want to read even more about the events that happen. The scenes themselves are interesting and engaging, but I would've loved to see more of the aftermath. Often some seriously heavy shit happens and while I'm still reeling from the event, the book skips forward days or weeks (or "tendays" as they're called) and moves on, and I just want to know more.
Spoiler
I want to know what happened between Jenks and Lovelace when she got her body, I want to know more about Sissix' and Rosemary's friends with benefits situation, I want to know what happened between Corbin and the crew when he was released from prison, I want to know how Ohan handled being cured against his will.. there's so much stuff I just want to know aboutOverall, I just really like the worlds Chambers has crafted, and I love the characters she wrote. And if my only gripe is that I need more of the book, I guess that's a pretty good problem to have.
