I did enjoy the book because it portrayed different problems. On the one hand it showed the racism and prejudices muslims (and all immigrants) have to deal with on a daily basis, on the other hand the book is a clear statement against violence and hatred which can be a result of that racism.
Also it generally made the reader think about religion and responsibility of one's own action.
And while the author condemned any terrorist actions he also showed that it is not only those terrorists that commit crimes against others.
I also enjoyed that the author wrote from the perspective of a teenager who became more extremist throughout the book. This perspective can help to understand and prevent similar actions.
All things considered the book is definitely worth a read.

I wonder if the people who called this book racist, islamophobic and harmful to the Muslim community actually read it. It's actually a deconstruction of terrorims and even distances itself from everyone who thinks that "Muslim = terrorist". It features so many types of muslims and yet, people only hate it for the two who aren't sympathetic.

Comment: I have three things to say about this book. First to the publishers in the USA: Please change the cover and blurb so more people read the actual content. To the German publishers: thanks for creating a decent cover and to all the people who 'boycotted the book just because the cover didn't appeal and was offensive': please read the actual book. You can always be angry at the publisher for choosing a bad cover, but don't blame the author if you haven't read the content. Most authors don't have any saying in creating the cover.
