shook me to my core with how humorous, romantic, and fun a romance novel could be. i don’t even like second chance romances, so this is saying something.

i… did not like this book.

it breaks my heart to say that, because this novel had been on my TBR for years, and i was genuinely looking forward to reading it. plus, i’m a sucker for a good second-chance romance, and the synopsis promised all of that and more.

but the main characters, naomi and nicholas, were SO. FUCKING. ANNOYING. especially naomi, though i’d say that’s because the story was being told exclusively from her point of view. regardless, the two of them irritated the crap out of me. they were just so unlikeable, i couldn’t find it in myself to root for them.

it took me around two weeks (i think? i don’t know, the days all blurred together, tbh) to finish this book. there were many times where i was so close to giving up on it, but your girl’s not a quitter, so i stuck it out. today, i decided to binge the last quarter, otherwise i would’ve fallen into The Slump To End All Slumps.

so yeah, this novel just wasn’t for me. was it well-written? yes. was the ending cute? also yes—in fact, that’s the only reason it’s getting two stars instead of one. but other than that, it felt like a chore to get through. i probably won’t be picking up anything by this author again.

I loved this book so much! I could 300 of their stories. They are definitely soulmates
