The individual character growth in this book was fantastic and so necessary. Acolyte further explained the governmental structure within this world and clarified the magic system a bit more. The reader was given some much needed answers but not so many that they knew how the rest of the series would pan out. I loved the addition of the queen. She is my new obsession. I really enjoyed how the book ended and can’t wait for the third book to come out!

I cannot believe that this book has been rated by less than 400 people on Goodreads. Stephanie Fisher has created a fascinating, complex world full of mystery and magic and I cannot wait for her next book to come out.

If you're a fan of Sarah J Maas or of Holly Black - this series is a must read.

None of this worked for me. I hate the split lover narrative anyway but I found myself skipping large chunks of this book because the pacing just became so painful and drawn out. A lot of the reveals and plot twists were predictable. This story has so much potential but this book took to long to progress. I think the author was trying to write a trilogy so this book suffered from middle child syndrome but overall just sad because this story could’ve been amazing.

I really hope Stephanie finishes this series, since this book was published so long ago in 2020. I love Skye and Taly, and I have to admit that I kind of wanted Taly to end up with Kato while Skye was still her best friend because they clicked together better, but it seems that won’t happen. Still, I really want to see a happy ending for Kato in the next book.

The magic system is so unique and the pace of the world building was exceptional. I really enjoy the time magic aspect of this, as well as the pocket universe Taly went to for a while.

The only thing I could have used more of was spicy scenes (as there were none) but the story and relationships were so exquisitely written that it didn’t bother me that much. And I love me some sexual tension, even if it takes 3 books to get there.
