I, surprisingly, enjoyed this, considering I tend to find novellas/short stories quite unsatisfying.
I liked having a slice of Paige's history; it allowed me to understand her as a person, as well as her position in the Seven Dials, a lot more than The Bone Season did. It read well, which is something I usually have an issue when it comes to shorter stories. It simply felt like an extension of the novel, rather than a random story-line that the author tries to weave around the original plot. It worked well, and so I really quite liked it. I can know understand how and why Paige is in that position, which I think will be beneficial when I'm reading the next books in the series.

This novella was very enjoyable and an excellent promise of what's to come with The Bone Season series. It is the prequel to The Bone Season, and I found the storyline to be a good one, with witty characters and a terrific dialogue! The Pale Dreamer is fast paced and exciting and I was totally immersed in it over two quick sittings.
