I went back and read this after starting the Bone Season, and I'm glad I did. It gives some needed (IMO) backstory for Paige and is a fun accounting of her first mission for the Seven Seals.
Moderate: Violence, Child death, Blood, and Murder
Minor: Abandonment and Confinement

Getting back into the bone season world with this novella.
I loved diving back into London with Paige and see her beginnings with the Seven Seals and how hard she had to work to get her magic working.
Well plotted, with a fast and furious story ark, situated within Paige's story ark and seeing her growing up and coming into her own.

THE PALE DREAMER is a nice prequel to THE BONE SEASON, showing Paige's early days with The Seven Seals. I recommend reading this after THE BONE SEASON, it's not the kind of prequel that stands on its own well, but I enjoyed reading immediately afterwards as a way to see Paige as she was before the events of the main story.
Moderate: Blood and Violence
Minor: Child abuse, Child death, Murder, and Death
