I found this book almost too predictable, but it was an interesting look into psychopathy from the family around a person with no empathy. I’m baffled as to why the therapist never commented on the parents’ deaths, though. I’ve been bothered by that plot hole since I finished the novel. I just feel like if you’d been murdered right after you tell your therapist you want your psychopath daughter committed, that therapist would talk to the police about it.

Well, this was an awful book! I enjoyed The Marsh Kings Daughter, so I figured this one would be good too. I hated it, hated the characters, hated the whole story. The only thing that kept me reading, was the poor white bear and the ravens! Terrible. 👎🏻

Just like I do with a really good fantasy book, I often wonder about the minds of the authors. How do they come up with such stories? I know this was about a psychopath, but it was really disturbing.

And this concludes my stretch of reading dark novels for a bit. I'm reselling it back to thriftbooks. I need something more upbeat...
