this was a cute concept, i guess
i liked that the chapters were broken up with pieces of a character's novella
the ending was entirely unsatisfying. the rehabilitation of both charity and her mother as characters is rushed and the reader is just meant to accept that they're better and now without prejudices.
there is also very little resolution with faith. yeah, she's back, hooray, but we don't get any emotional release for hope. no acknowledgment of the fact that her sister could have contacted her this entire time and just....didn't. "i didn't want to see our parents" ok but you could have shot ur sister a dm.

two of the major characters of the book (angus and astrid) have very little characterization, and angus is just boiled down to his identities. also, the joke angus makes about being a "magical n*gro"???? INSANE choice for the white author to make

This book was such a wild ride! Every new beat had my jaw on the floor. The story made my blood boil and the ending made my heart sing--just like a good punk song. Very, very glad I picked this one up!

Please Preston Norton you had me at this cover and title. Why would I ever be interested in a book about a young teen starting a band (with shout out's to Karen, Joan, Stevie, and Janis) based on love and support and against bigotry and hate? Read it in like two days. You should too.

I loved this so much. It's an adorable hug of a book. Awful things happen a lot, but nothing lasts too long, and everything turns out well.
