Read the first book a while ago and loved it and now this book landed in my lap. I could not put it down!! It was so good and finally Hatter Madigan shows is true self! I kinda guessed what was between him and Molly though so i am glad it was true.

I wasn't as engaged with this one and I struggled to follow along sometimes.

It has been a very long time since I read the first book in this series and even after reading my review and the synopsis of the previous book I do not remember anything that happened and the characters were unfamiliar while still being familiar because it's a re-imagining of Alice in Wonderland. I did not enjoy this book. So much so that I question why I put it on my list to check out from the library. Also, I am glad that I borrowed it from the library instead of buying it; I would be upset if I spent money on it with how much I did not enjoy it. But, it had the benefit of helping my local library because every book you borrow helps!
As for the book, Arch, the king of one of the neighboring lands is very manipulative and he thinks he's a master but by the end of the book both Alyss's supporters and Redd's supporters have bested him, ruined his plans, and killed him. We discover that Molly is the child of the Hatter, one he didn't know he had. Her insecurities are manipulated by Arch but her parents save her and the day. Redd is amassing an army on Earth and uses the Jack of Diamonds to really unite the tribes controlled by Arch and uses them to take control of him before killing him. Alyss is trying to make a relationship with Dodge, but both are bad at communication. Redd goes through her maze and now has lots more power and the Hatter is the only reason she doesn't defeat Alyss.
There was action, adventure, and deception. I should have liked this, but I just didn't. I am not sure if I will finish the trilogy or if I am going to call it after this book.

I couldn’t get through this second book; it felt like a hypocrisy between trying to have a strong MFC and actually writing one. The concept is great but poorly executed

Encontrar un unicornio de cola arcoiris era mas facil que encontrar este libro, me gusto bastante, me gusta como esta diseñada la historia, aunque disfrute mas el 1ro. Ansio conceguir el 3ro para saber como continua todo

This book seems disjointed to me. The story is interesting, but the narrative seems to drag itself through the conclusion. The last couple of chapters (the action scenes mainly) are the only parts of the book that don't seem to be weighted down.

Maybe the parts of the book show through too much. The constant shifting between three stories (Alyss's, Redd's in London and Arch's). Very few authors can make each story equally intersting and compelling, and Beddor does not. Perhaps reading the entire book depends too much on wanting to know the part of the story you are most intrigued by.

The last part of the book was fantastic and my interest was completely held. I can't wait to find out what happens next. I still love the world Beddor has created.

Fun, campy, and imaginative. Another good not great continuation of the Alice in wonderland retelling. His strength is easily the world building and I feel that this is what pulled me back in to finish the trilogy. Although this is obviously written for a teen audience I continually found myself wishing for more meat to the language, more show less tell. Beddor just drags out a scene to the point where I want the endless descriptions of blades thunking and feet twirling to end. Just give us a small chunk of character development and depth!

Ultimately, when I first read the first entry in this series years ago I remember thinking Beddor’s largest weakness being that he couldn’t write a satisfying ending and that rings even more true in this one. The ending feels less like his intended cliffhanger and more like the ending of the Sopranos. Either way I'm along for the ride, hoping that the final book has the resolution this series desperately needs.
