3.5 stars rounded up. I would love to see this performed some day, as I think it would be such a good experience. This was obviously such a progressive play for its time, and had such an important message.

The play centres around Nora and her husband Torvald. For years, Torvald has treated his wife as a child, petting her, and discarding her opinions (ringing any bells @MaximdeWinter?). The climax of the play is reached when Nora realises this and has to decide what to do about it.

This play was also one of the first ‘naturalistic’ plays, meaning it’s dialogue and action are realistic, not stylised or embellished as many plays at the time were. So, It’s also a hugely important play in this respect too!

I would recommend, especially to theatre students, because, in terms of its dramatic devices, it’s very interesting!

an incredible play that is accidentally feminist. very humanistic in its content and yet it had explosive reactions when it was released.
truly amazing, quite short and definitely a must read.
