This was fine outside the whole falling for your captor because he's such a nice guy who feels he owns you, and even if your old life was blah, it was yours.

I picked up this read without much hope as I had never read of anthropomorphic nagas/snakes, but I liked it. The plot and worldbuilding are interesting and creative, even the characters are well-formed and prepared. However, I found the relationship and feelings between them too fast and a bit empty. Although that, I have hope with this series so I will buy the next one soon!

This dude sees the fmc one time and boom, he’s convinced she belongs to him (“belongs to,” not “belongs with”) and he’s entitled to kidnap her and compel her to mate with him. He says he would never rape her, but I didn’t believe him for a minute. Everything he did was designed to undermine her consent and force her into a sexual/breeding relationship. He  kept saying he would keep her safe, but in fact she was perfectly safe until he and his naga brethren “traded” for women (the women were given no choice) and took them away from their crew and ship. This is not romantic, and for me not erotic, either. Too bad, because the post-apocalyptic setting was interesting but I couldn’t get through any more of this rape fantasy to learn about the world.
