“I know you see yourself as dark. But you aren’t. You’re swirling color, all different shades, a mosaic. You’re complicated and beautiful. And I’m not quitting on you, so you better not quit on me.”

This book picks up right after the Denman Derby in Off To The Races. We also get lots of flash’s backs, explain exactly how Violet and Cole know each other, and let me tell you, I did not see that coming.

Violet gets injured in a race and has no other option but to move into the house Cole is staying in.

Cole has been carrying a secret for far too long, until a little divine intervention forces him to tell Violet.

Their relationship is rocky to say the least but they are exactly what each other needs and that definitely shows

Loved seeing Violet get her time to shine in this book. Cole kicks things off as acerbic as possible, and Violet rises to the occasion to say “okay wall that’s on you”

Complex characters with a complicated history can only mean one thing: a great slow burn with plenty of tension and spice that you reach out and touch.

Really liked the characters and storyline. Her writing style and character building is on point, but I do wish there was a bit more about the character's background to create even more debt to them. I didn't love the way they met through the internet, but still a cute story.

Forced proximity
Small town
Second chance
Slow burn

I loved Violet and Cole because they are so thoroughly described and Cole has real issues that mess with him, he is truly grumpy. Although I think Billie is one of the best female characters created and takes the cake in this book as a side character

I just think it could have been a shorter book. It’s a slow burn, but it still dwelled in things that weren’t necessary for the plot or character development.
