This book was just so...meh. There was very little action, and most of the book settled around Ana and Sam kissing and being sort of melodramatic, and then Ana getting trapped in the temple and crap.

MEHHHHH.

I'm starting to get more and more into this story. It took me one and a half book, but at least it happened.

EDIT: This is my 900th book. And it's crap. I usually like reading something good at memorable numbers. So sad.

It has become apparent to me that I am a masochist of the highest order. I have no idea why I keep reading this dreadful series. But I do. And what I got from "Asunder" is:
- it's a waste of time. The majority of the book was the romantic, love-sick ramblings of Ana the retard. "Oh, Gosh, who has Sam slept with in the last 5 000 years? Do they hate me now? Do I hate them? Wait, was Sam a dude or a chick back then? Oh, lookie, he was a she and she was a fattie." What in the name... ? Are you serious?
- and then, in the last 20% of the book Ana was locked in the temple and whining as usual.
- and in the last 2% something of significance to the story happened.

I'm depressed now.

Cover

This cover is kind of creepy but pretty at the same time. You know what I mean?

Initial Thoughts

I found the first book in this series ok. It wasn't bad and it wasn't spectacular so my hopes weren't very high going into this one. Especially since almost always the first book is the best. I really enjoy the concept of this series though so I was eager to continue it.

My New BFF

I'm not even sure who to pick here. I had favourites in the previous book but so much happened in this one and so much was revealed about these characters that I'm not sure anymore. Ana isn't bad for a main character. She was a little annoying at times but she stood up for herself more in this book. I was actually pretty proud of her.

My Crush

Dossam, or Sam, is the obvious winner here. I love everything about his character. I like how he treats Ana equally to everyone else. It's very nice of him. Also I like the pace of his and Ana's relationship. It doesn't feel rushed like a lot of other relationships we're reading about. I liked how when Sam said I love you, Ana didn't rush to say it back. That's more realistic to me. There were some silly cheesy moments though, just a warning, but they aren't that bad.

Writing Style

I find that Jodi Meadows hasn't really amazed me yet. This book is really good but I'm always looking for something spectacular. Her writing is clear and to the point. This book was mostly focused on character building which I found she did really well. I just wished we could know more about outside of their little town.

Closing Thoughts

I liked this book more than the first. The main characters grew more and the truth was revealed about a lot of people. I was satisfied after reading it but I wanted to be stunned. I wished it had given us just a little bit more to work with. I wished there was just a little bit more romance though! There was a lot about the relationship itself but the romance was missing. I liked how Ana developed as a character though. I found she was much more involved in the community and she actually worked for what she wanted. I wished we could have gotten to know the new characters she met a little better though. Also I'm a little unsure about the villain in this book. I think I'm going to have to read the last book before fully judging this series.

I don't know what it is about these books, but every time I start reading, I feel like I've entered into another world. Range is a completely different world, with a lot of interesting, and sometimes confusing creatures.

I absolutely love the author's writing. I think Meadows does a great job capturing and explaining the world of range. She has made a very creative story line that keeps you coming back for more.

While at times I was frustrated with Ana, Sam, and Stef, I really enjoy reading about them. I think it is interesting to see how Ana reacts and grows throughout the books, while trying to struggle with being alone. She is the first newsoul in 5 thousand years, so she doesn't have as much experience as everyone around her.

I would recommend this book if you have read the last one and enjoyed it, and I would definitely recommend this series.

Not quite as good as the first book, but some good mysteries were revealed in this book. I'd love to see Ana more powerful and self-sufficient in the third book. Her crying and falling over and lack of overall awareness is starting to annoy me.

2021- Second time reading this series and I still loved it. Ana may be 5,000 years younger and on her first life, but that in no way means she's immature. She's had to raise herself and teach herself everything and is strong instead of weak.

2014- This series is a little wild with some of the concepts and revelations and has you hungering for the finale.

Much better than first book. Goes a bit deeper into the plots than before which was nice. Adds more backstory and character development. Decent.
