Wow I loved this book immensely. It is very dark but so worth it every sentence word paragraph was so well thought out and placed I found myself imagining all the reasons for each placement though this book is on the shorter side the story feels so long in a good way.

Oddly, I did not feel as strongly for this as I did the show adaptation. I feel like it wasn’t as easy to connect to the story as much. Pacing was quick and it left you feeling hollow and sad; this was likely the point, but it didn’t really have any development other than world-building. this has a nihilistic perspective, which can be more impactful for the message depending on how you go into it.
the show covers this entirely in just season 1, except a few passages here and there. The show explores this concept far more deeply and gives Offred more depth and personhood. Her real name is never mentioned in the book, as the show takes many creative liberties to explore the concept more.

This is a difficult book to rate. I liked it well enough, though it was a bit slow. The narrator had a pretty good voice and I didn't find her annoying even if I disagreed with her a lot. Honestly, it was good that she wasn't a perfect person. At the same time I struggled to really get into the book and plot. I would have liked to have seen a little more about our narrator from before as we only got brief flashes. I feel like that would have cemented her personality and its changes in my mind a little better.
