This being my first foray with Sullivan’s work, I can definitely say I had a great time reading this! Just as the title says, a lot of rape happens along with the overall cruelty, brutality, and betrayals that had me hooked! Especially with how savage Curt was! Prison king for sure! I also appreciated the realness of how ex con’s are viewed and treated in society which is sadly so true. Aside from a few areas of grammar issues, I loved this story a lot! I will also say that there is use of homophobic and racial slurs within the story! Again, I am very glad to have read it and highly recommend if you are interested in this book! Will have to look into Sullivan’s other books! Happy reading!

I am not sure what I was thinking when I decided to read this. The title sums up the subject. It is not m/m romance. It is rape. It is brutal.

It is well written and told in an almost clinical fashion. I would advise to read the blurb to find out more about the story to assist in determining if you want to read it. It has some high ratings but is not necessarily an easy read.

Note: My rating represents some of my discomfort at reading this book i.e.. the subject matter, rather than the quality of the writing. It is hard to say I really liked or loved it.

This rating is the toughest for me so far. I have read the title and a lot of reviews. All were very positive about this book. So I tried it ... but I could not get connected with it. I could not get connected with Curt or with his story. I found myself more thinking about his victims. I wasn't able to connect to Curt and feel sorry or sympathy for him. And I just don't want to.
That's probably the main reason that kept me from connecting: I really don't want to feel sorry with a rapist.

This being said I did give the book more than 1 star because I could appreciate two things:
I liked the writing. The author made clear this wasn't only Curt's POV but also his voice.
And the second reason is: I should've known better and never started this book. Because I knew that this kind of stories don't do it for me. I can like BDSM storier, but I need a little bit of romance in it. And I need two adults agreeing on what they're doing as MCs. Rape is something I can't tolerate and I can't get over this fact. The title was a warning, the summary was, the reviews were... I still bought and read the book as part of a "Pushing the boundaries" challenge. And well... that it did. It did push my boundaries.

Really blown away by this story. The ending was a surprise in a good way. Curt was a great MC. He was hilarious, scary, and a near zero moral compass. Not going to lie, Curt kinda turned me on. Yup. I said it. I enjoyed his journey and his growth. A very intense, dark journey. It’s definitely a written story that keeps you engaged.
