I’ve never owned a book of poetry. I now want more. This one is beautiful, powerful, sad and hopeful all at once. One I’ll surely read again.

This cute little collection of poetry had some beautiful moments, but I would not give it a metal. I really enjoyed the pairing of poems and drawings, and there were a few poems that I loved, but there were also a lot of poems that fell flat for me.

I do believe poetry is an extremely personal form of literature, so everyone will react differently. I think if you can relate to the author's struggles you might really enjoy this.

Gibson has such wonder and whimsy for the world! I can’t wait to read more of their work

I was surprised at first to realize this was a book of excerpts. I'd seen reviews hinting at Gibson writing "Instapoetry" in this collection but when I started reading I kept recognizing lines from Gibson's other poetry collections. The acknowledgements at the end thank Megan Falley for reading through many years of Gibson's love poetry and after I finished the book I read the book description which acknowledges it's a book of excerpts and one-liners.

To say I'm relieved is an understatement because I'd enjoyed Gibson's other poetry collections.

"I said to the sun, "Tell me about the big bang." The sun said, "It hurts to become.'"

I was worried when starting this due to the font that it was going to be corny. It absolutely wasn't. This is the first thing I've read by Andrea Gibson and I absolutely love their style and everything about their writing. I will definitely be on the lookout for more. This was sweet and short and hit me right where it hurts, but in a good way.

"This morning I saw her lipstick on a coffee cup and felt like I had never known a bruise."

"Just to be clear, I don't want to get out without a broken heart. I intend to leave this life so shattered there better be a thousand separate heavens for all my flying parts."

"She still asks for my number every time we kiss. Still stops me from carving our initials into the tree whispering, "Everything that grows already knows who we are."

"I know David argued with the chisel. I know he said, "Make me softer.'"

"All living is storm chasing."

"I suppose I love this life. In spite of my clenched fist."

"I'm going to kill my own god to fall in love for the first time."
