This is one of the few celebrity memoirs that are actually worthwhile and recommend that everyone read it. I laughed, I cried, I learned. Overall amazing!

Nyle has such an interesting and unique life story — I was captivated the entire book. I was already interested in Deaf culture before reading this book and had delved into some of the history deafness in America and learned a little bit about Deaf culture from a friend and YouTube videos. But Nyle so eloquently immerses you in his world as a deaf person that you really get a real sense of what it’s like to be deaf. I love that Nyle is so proud of his Deaf and queer identity. He’s so confident in everything he does and man, he can do everything (seriously, what can’t he do?!).  I was especially impressed by his business savvy ness and prowess in getting his foot in the door as a film producer. I loved Deaf U on Netflix and I love that he’s sharing the stories of Deaf folks because they have such a rich culture and it’s so fascinating.

This book was quite interesting. As this was a real-life memoir, written from the point of view of a deaf person, it was interesting to learn a bit more about deaf culture, deaf family life, and perspective on things.

I know a bit about Deaf culture and ASL but learned a ton more through this book (and it's just the tip of the iceberg; I appreciate the further reading section). The most striking thing is the author's immense pride in his community, family, and identity, and joy in sharing it with others.
