I enjoyed this book a lot, the different perspectives (love Ruby, although she only appears here and there) and time jumps.
Also how the mystery unraveled bit by bit, and the descriptions of theater life in NYC, and the tv world in LA added an interesting aspect to the story.

I liked the layered characters of Flora and Margot.

All in all a story about love, family, friendship, privilege, ambitions, betrayal and trust.

There is no perfect life for anybody

Good Company follows three couples, who met while working in New York's theatre industry. Flora and Julian have been happily married for twenty years, yet when she stumbles upon the wedding ring her husband claimed to have lost many summers ago, she begins to question everything she knows. As she works to uncover what really happened that summer it will impact everyone. A story of secrets and deceit, of relationships and friendship, of marriage and parenthood.

This dual time line novel delves deeps into life long relationships, human connection and the ripple effect of our choices. It started out strong, but I struggled to stay invested in the characters lives or the story, and at times it felt very soap opera-like. With this one, it may be more of a 'it's me and not the book' issue, as I'm not sure I mesh well with the author's dry humour or this type of character driven novel.

I certainly didn't love this book, but I do appreciate the writing, the reminder of the ever changing motion that is life, and I'd be remiss if I didn't mention the absolutely beautiful cover art.

"Bad things happened. The people closest to you surprised you in the most disappointing ways."
