Yet another Ethan and Jack that completely stole my heart.
Jack Reardon has been undercover for the past fifteen months when his cover is blown wide open and he finds himself in a torture shack only to be rescued by the same man who ruined his cover, notorious international assassin Ethan Blade.
Alternating between two timelines, we witness how in the past, Jack and Ethan met and struggled to survive in the harsh desert together and in the present, Jack facing the consequences of withholding the truth, when Ethan appears at Jack’s off the record work building only willing to speak to him. It served the Blacklist pilot episode with Reddington and I ate it up.
There is barely any romance in this book, it mainly focuses on the ‘unveiling the imposter’ plot but the push and pull between the two characters was to die for. Also I know Ethan is a cold, ruthless, meticulous assassin but he’s so adorable sometimes. He’s my little meow meow.

I loved it for a third time. The narrator is fantastic! This might be my favorite book ever.

I tried so hard and got so far, but in the end, this didn't work for me. The split time line kept taking me out of the story - I'm not a fan of this in general, but here especially it felt jarring. Maybe the chapters were too short and we were going back and forth too quickly for my taste. The story itself was promising, but I was getting bored a lot while reading, feeling as if things were happening but leading nowhere, and all it was doing was constantly reinforcing the fact that Ethan is an assassin and Jack needs to process.

Good, so good. I loved the suspense part of the story, fast-paced, and the romance part.
It is not smut with a dash of suspense. It is more the other way around, which is nice. Exactly what the doctor ordered.
