Very cute and enjoyable read! However, potential readers lured in by the promise of a marriage of convenience should know that said marriage doesn't happen until the third act, way after both MCs have already fallen deeply for each other.

This book was a lot of fun and am looking forward to the rest of the sister’s books. I wish the 3rd act wasn’t so rushed. The conflict, fallout, and resolution all took place in the last 25% of the book.

My Rating: ❤️❤️❤️❤️.5

General Thoughts A friend of mine loved this one, so I was excited to get to it, especially since it's currently Latine heritage month. I went into this one not knowing anything about it other than a friend loved it and it's by a Latina author and about three Mexican sisters. I listened to this on audio, and I was really intrigued by Ana Maria (who yes, like the dedication forewarns, has big oldest sister energy.) I loved seeing her grow into her own and develop relationships with her sisters (who will feature in books 2 and 3 (and their love interests)). I enjoyed Ana Maria as a character and being in her head, and also Gideon's. The author created such rich, vibrant characters.

I also love historical fiction where I learn something, and I definitely learned a ton from this one. I really enjoyed this one.

Spice Meter: ❤️‍🔥❤️‍🔥 Slow burn for most of the novel (slow slow burn). Then 1-2 fairly spicy sex scenes. Not the most graphic, but long.

Romantic Tropes
-historical fiction
-romance
-marriage of convenience
-"my wife"
-off-limits/forbidden
-slow burn
-suspense
