This was absolutely beautifully written. The story is multilayered and intricately woven. I learned a lot and found myself attached to the characters in all of their imperfections. Some parts of this were very hard to read because the author was unflinching in showing how people hurt each other and how violent the world can be. There were also very tender passages which showed the depths of love we can experience with each other when we choose to.Â
Moderate: Pedophilia, Sexual assault, Child abuse, Xenophobia, Terminal illness, and Miscarriage
Minor: Homophobia

This book is an amazing translation, it always astonishes me when a translator is able to work the text into something that is as beautifully written as in the original language. This book is a study of love and what it is to truly be loved by the ones around us.
Graphic: Forced institutionalization, Pedophilia, Sexual violence, and Sexual assault
This book deals with these themes in a way that would be appropriate for young adults. It explains and helps the reader understand the characters traumas in a way that is palpable as well as helpful.
