Four years, folks. I have been working on reading this whole series for four years. I was reading a ton of other stuff in between (well, kind of. Not a ton. Only a few. Almost none, until these past few months). And let me tell you, I anticipate a re-read! Not any time soon, but eventually. I would like to read them all much closer together, so I forget less than I have to.
So, the characters: they all annoyed me at some point. Harry was quite rude to his friends unnecessarily. Hermoine was often much too self-righteous for my liking. Then there was Ron, who was a whining baby brat! Good grief, I had never been quite so annoyed with him before. However, given their circumstances, this was all understandable and forgivable. And I'm pretty sure that is the worst I can say about these characters.
I saw the movies before I read the books. It causes me to hang my head in shame from time to time. Passers on the street look at me funny when it happens, but if they knew why, they would encourage me. Anyway, because of this fact, I was essentially spoiled for the big picture. The reading experience, however, was not so diminished. I was quite in love with the story and the characters.I do feel, though, that I couldn't love it as much as people who grew up with the series from the first book, and read the books before they saw the movie. If I loved the books this much being spoiled, I can only imagine how much I would have loved it if I read the books first.

< huge spoiler regarding deaths >
I am devastated every time I think about the many deaths in this book (deaths will not be in a particular order).
Nimphadora Tonks. Remus Lupin. Fred Weasley. Dobby. Lavender Brown. Hedwig. MadEye Moody. Colin Creewey. Severus Snape (yes, we do love him. Rip Alan Rickman).
We all love and miss you and no, I don’t care that you are „just“ fictional characters.

J.K. Rowling literally blew my mind with several chapters in this series finale. Yes, I literally gasped at moments; Rowling gives us everything so all the pieces fit; how amazing it is that all the pieces fit! This is honestly the best book that I eave ever read! It fliled in so many wholes or places where I was confused with the movies. The reason I think I gasped even though i've seen all the movies was that the books always describe things in more depth. I don't know what I could possibly say right now. I'm speechless because of how good this book is. I guess even though i've seen all the movies, I didn't expect the books to be this good...ok I did but i'm still speechless.
The only bad thing about this book is that I wish the Epilogue was longer, but only because I didn't want the book to end and I would have liked to see more of Harry's life after Voldemort. Then again, i'm not J.K. Rowling and less is more right? The Deathly Hallows gets 5 stars just like it's predecessors.
My Notes:
September 21, 2011... page 63, 8.04%: "Hagrid just flung himself from his flying motorbike - in mid air! - and onto a death eater. Oh. My. Vlod. :p"
September 22, 2011... page 89, 11.35%: "Well, I knew who the fallen warrior would be, but I still can't believe Hagrid flung himself onto a Death Eater in midair! Shock-factor writing!"
September 23, 2011... page 119, 15.18%: "Very deaf 107 year old lady being escorted to her seat by Ron Weasley, "Merlin's Beard! What is Xenophilius Lovegood wearing? He looks like an omelet!" She wasn't in the movie version, but I love this ol bird already :p."
-
--page 201, 25.64%: "My opinion of Kreacher has changed."
September 24, 2011... page 239, 30.48%: "Kreacher is showing a more lighthearted side. Borderline adorable. I wonder if it'll continue? For now, it's off to the ministry."
September 25, 2011... page 276, 35.2%: "Wow. The movie followed the two chapters on Ron, Hermione and Harry entering the Ministry of Magic via Polyjuice potion almost to the letter."
September 26, 2011... page 309, 39.41%: "Now we r getting somewhere!"
-
--page 350, 44.64%: "I was looking forward to the chapters of Godric's Hollow and Bathilda's secret for when the snake lunges at Harry the wall collapses, sending both of them into an oddly well lit baby's room complete with crib, dresser and rocking chair...but it never happened ... in the book....hmmm...."
September 28, 2011... page 502, 64.03%: "This. Book. Is. Epic. The chapters: Godric's Hollow, Bathilda's Secret, Xenophilius Lovegood, The Tale of the Three Brothers, The Deathly Hallows and Malfoy Manor completely blew my mind! Some say the movie 'Deathly Hallows Part One,' was borderline documentary, but it's still one of my fave movies out of the whole series. Yes, they change things, but it gives us something to talk about. Epic, just epic!"
September 29, 2011... page 554, 70.66%: "The Chapter of Gringotts blew my mind along with the 6 chapters I mentioned in my previous status...and now where Deathly Hallows Part Two had me on the edge of my seat..Harry, Ron and Hermione are headed to Hogsmeade. I repeat: Harry, Ron and Hermione are headed to Hogsmeade.:p...but I have to stop reading for now...grrrrrrrrrrrrrr"
-
--page 571, 72.83%: "decided to re-write this status without the Spoiler. I just found out who was the character date-raped. Rita Skeeter is a vicious, vile (Fictional) human being!"
September 30, 2011... page 651, 83.04%: "Hagrid might be a light hearted soul, but he's also not the fasted wrist for a wand in the bunch. First he flung himself onto a Death Eater in mid air, then, the spiders are trying to kill people and and screams at the wizards for tryna defend themselves against the spider. He needs to be bleepslapped LoL."
