There was some soul lacking to this book. I feel like the author didn't actually dig deep enough and just retold the tabloid fodder back to us. That said, it still held my attention and I really liked the earlier years.

Within the first ten pages it is made clear that George Michael apparently used to smoke 25 joints a day and was addicted to heroin. Which is probably the reason it took me this long to actually read this book. It is wild with shock factor to keep people hooked on reading the biography. And was this even true? I would have rather had a beautiful chapter about his youth and growing up instead of this intro.

George Michael was not perfect, but nobody is. Fame truly took it's toll on him and his personal life. Being in a constant struggle to want to be openly gay, while being fearful of losing your whole career because of it. George Michael was actually very shy and wanted to be taken seriously for his songwriting and production. Which is one of the reasons he did not do any promotional work for his second solo album.

I might be biased because i had a crush on him. But i think he just wanted a normal life filled with love and less nasty press. Just like we all do. He struggled with his sexuality and depression and had horrible things happen to those he loved. And his mistakes were always in the public eye in a time where being an openly gay superstar was still frowned upon.

The book is poorly written with lots of spelling mistakes due to it being a copy and paste work of interview pieces and trivia. With a lie mixed in here and there. The end result is dissapointing cash grab.
