tsugumi ohba really is the king of pacing.
this was excellent obviously, but really could've done without the casual misogyny. yikes!

#JapaneseJune Book #6.
The tension is really amped up in this volume, and it's only the second installment to the series! Light is treading on thin ice as L puts together a special investigation unit and ups his suspect surveillance. Not only that, but he has the girlfriend of a victim sticking her nose into his business at the same time. Sometimes I have to wonder how he manages to remain to calm and collected - I don't know if I like him as a person but as a character he's incredibly intriguing, way more than L in my opinion.
I'm excited to try and get my hands on the next two volumes, as I've never read past this point before and I'm enjoying my reading experience of this series a whole lot more the second time around. Hopefully it can only get better!

I read this in one sitting. As one might expect, Light has crossed over into being a total villain, willing to kill non-criminals who get in his way. At one point he talks about how his last name is made up of the kanji for “night” and “god” which is apt since he seems to have a God complex. He’s definitely not a character I can have sympathy for. It is interesting to see how he out maneuvers those looking for him though. I did feel like the ending was kind of abrupt. I turned the page expecting the scene implied to be coming and was surprised the book was over.

Ok I've come to the conclusion I'm just going to hate Light. He is so damn annoying

I didn't know I could enjoy a manga that much. I love L and Light, they're both so clever and they always come up with new original ideas to beat each other. The other characters are useless, though.
