I shouldn't have been quite so hard on this novel last time I read it. The premise of the series came up in conversation the other day (The Matrix x Connecticut Yankee), and I thought it deserved a do-over. It's chock full of puns and witticisms alongside the odd self-aware quip.

Still wouldn't recommend unless you have some background in computer science & are familiar with contemporary SF.

The premise of this book is just fantastic.

I started to read this because I thought it was a comedy fantasy novel. Now, I'm confused whether to categories it as fantasy or as sci fi.

The magic system is really cool. There is a lot of scope. I liked it.
It is a fun, lighthearted casual read.

Witty and fun book about life in a simulation. It's a cute concept and as a software engineer, i quite enjoyed it. The humor was spot on and the character development and interactions were great. Looking forward to the next book.

Such a fun read (audible listen). This was one of my run listens and I loved it. This boy discovers that the world is a simulation, and he is able to hack himself to become a wizard in medieval times. I think it was just a little more fun understanding a bit about coding. The world was so creative and I enjoyed the casual prose for listening along.
