Listened to the audio version on my 2nd go around of this book. The first time I read it I was in my early twenties, single and the movie version of the Notebook had been released not long before. I was eagerly devouring all of Nicholas Sparks's books in early 2005. I really enjoyed this book back then. Now currently listening to Tom Wopat read it to me as a wife and mom that's been married for almost 10 years, I LOVED it!! It is such a wonderful book and listening to an actor that I have liked since I was literally a toddler(Dukes of Hazzard was my first favorite tv show) was AMAZING. This is the sweetest story and so romantic. Definitely one of Nicholas Sparks best books!

A heart-warming light read. Absolutely loved the depth and personalities attributed to each of the characters.

It's Nicholas Sparks. Not very interesting, but not particularly awful. Had to get in one more fluff book before the school reading hit. haha.

Very Sweet. I loved how he worked so hard to get his marriage back where it should be and at having his wife love him again.

So, I never knew there was a SEQUEL to The Notebook until I saw it here on Goodreads. I am usually not one for books where the plot is completely dominated by love and romance, but this…this right here blew me away. It made me tear up a lot and makes me soooo incredibly hopeful to have a love like this someday. Wilson’s character growth and the effort he put in to show Jane, his wife, how much he loves her? Everyone wants that kind of love and appreciation and effort from someone they love. And the TWIST towards the end???? Mind. Blown.

Nicholas Sparks always gets to the sappy romantic side of me. This is a great companion to The Notebook. I loved the story! 07/17/2006

Quote: "But love, I've come to understand, is more than three words mumbled before bedtime. Love is sustained by action, a pattern of devotion in the things we do for each other every day." (p.65)

Mr. Sparks has great writing skills, but while this is a mainstream good book, I just had no way to identify with any of the characters or happenings. I was somewhat pleased that it carried on from the Notebook, and it is a quick read. I am sure Hollywood will grab onto this one as well.

I started off being a bit disappointed in the book, and at times felt it to be a bit cheesy. However, it was really a sweet story about redemption of a relationship. How often do we not appreciate and take for granted those most close to us. If you like The Notebook give this book a chance.
