This was a really good fantasy debut from Ava Reid. A story about religion, tradition, and identity with a slow burn enemies-to-lovers romance steeped in history and Jewish mythology. Reid's writing is more grounded here than A Study in Drowning (my first work by them), so I would recommend this book to non-flowery writing fantasy readers. I got lost a little bit towards the end, but more of a me-problem than a book-problem in my honest opinion. Nonetheless, I am glad I read this book.
