An absolute winner! Kelly created two main characters that I completely fell in love with. I laughed and cried right along with them. As always, even her side characters were engaging and had me rooting for them. I was sad when the book ended because I wasn't ready to give up my connection to Olivia and Nate, as well as the others...I want more! (Reviewed ARC)

Ich weiß nicht, warum ich mir so was immer wieder antue. Wohl die unerfüllt Hoffnung, mal eine gute Romanze zu lesen...aber hey, ich habe schon schlechtere gelesen.

my goodness i’m actually ashamed that it took me this long to finish this book! this is one of the book covers with a real person that i’m not mad about. the hat? the abs? the tats? his height? the ranch and dog in the background? yeah, that’s definitely nate!!! and whoever decided on this cover, did the damn thing!

I have never read a book where so little happens and everything is repeated like 50 times. Our male character has an erection everytime he sees the girl, and calls her baby after meeting her two seconds ago. Our girl character is boring, although male character thinks she is fiery and bold. She gets a wet p*ssy everytime she sees the male, so of course they have rough sex for about five chapters on end.

(I received an ARC for this book)

Olivia Cattenach loses her brother Justin, but he makes sure that Nathan Roldan is there to save her. To save each other. Nate is tough and rugged, but gentle in all the ways Olivia needs him to be. Nate is there to protect her, and that means protecting her from himself. But really, it's Olivia who saves him. Nate is so hellbent on protecting her, he doesn't even realize just how strong she is. How strong he's made her. And he's so stubborn! I just wanted Olivia to whack him over the head, more than once! But he saved her, every time she needed him most. His rough exterior doesn't even stand a chance against the softness of her heart.

My Favorite Quotes:
•"Olivia, baby. Don’t move."
•"Sometimes the hero’s a beast or a frog or an ogre. Maybe I’m not looking for a knight."
•"Little red, you brought the guy to his knees. And he hasn’t gotten back up."
•"I thought your grin was panty-melting, but your laugh singes them to dust."
•"Your mouth is a weapon of mass destruction."
•"I swear to you on my pathetic, empty heart that I will never leave you again."
•'She grinned, and the last remnants of his old life cindered to dust.'

Learnt I don’t like reading romance books written in the third person with this book.

A slow burn romance, that is super sweet. Both MC’s are dealing with grief and help each other out. As always the MMC was my favourite character in the book.

What did I like about this book?

It is a super sweet grumpy/sunshine, veteran, ptsd, matchmaker, tortured MMC, grieving loss, etc etc romance. I also enjoyed the kinda-but not- really love triangle bits in the story. I think the story is a decent length for what it is, and the author isn’t trying to make it much more either; meaning it’s a nice little romance with some hints of grief and healing.

What did I NOT like about this book?

I found myself getting kinda bored, but not because of the story - more so the dialogue. There’s a lot of inner monologue creating the ‘amazing’ miscommunication trope (ugh). So ultimately the dialogue between the characters is kinda stilted and odd. There’s also a strange little ‘let’s showcase the MMC’s military skills’ scene which I didn’t hate, and I understood how it moved the story along BUT I did stop and go “how did we get here???”

Overall worth a read

<kleinere Spoiler>
