This thriller accomplished its purpose! It gave me a feeling of tightness in my chest and gave me chill bumps as well. Dance for the Dead is written exceptionally well with what I call "flow." And I was emotionally moved by several moments of characters expressing their affection for one another. To top it off, the villain of the piece is a top-notch piece of work. There are no boundaries to his greed or what he is willing to do get the money. And he has the smarts, skill, and the means to be a deadly threat to Jane Whitefield.

Perry writes an excellent suspense novel, and I really enjoy the Jane Whitefield character, who allows for the blending in of Native American (Seneca, primarily) tradition into the story. This second novel has a lot of violence in it, which can be difficult to read (listen to), but it did not prevent me from wanting more. The ending feels like a reward, which should always be the case for a really suspense novel!

I've been disappointed in a few of his books lately, so glad I picked this one up. Good book!

It's very interesting reading these type of mystery/changing identity books that were written in the 90s. Pre-9/11 they're going right up to the gates at airports to meet passengers. No smart phones. I'm very interested to see how book #9, out in November, keeps up with modern technology.
