Worth waiting for

Now I need to reread...shoot...the Mulan dressmaker duology. Because I have a sudden theory that I'm probably wrong about but certain elements of this books reminded me strongly of the sequel to those books. And I'm like "...Wait a minute."

Anyway.
Y'all. I have been waiting for this book for ages and I am all about this. Dragons. And also the story of the Cranes. We get the end of it.
I didn't cry. But this is still amazing and I don't feel guilty for suggesting the first one without having read the second one. Not that I thought the second one was going to be garbage. And it wasn't.
I was just hesitant, you know? Didn't stop me.

I got real worried there for a hot minute. That was some stress. Oof.
But fantastic.
Shiori is a delight. Takkan is amazing. My dragon boy Seryu deserves like fifteen hugs and I love him to pieces. And the demons are...problems.
Also giant snake.
Also all the dragons.
Seryu. My boy. I love him. And he's not even a morally gray character, which is delightful and impressive.

I think I would recommend these two books to everyone! Elizabeth Lim has probably become my one of my favorite authors now. I have yet to be disappointed in her writing (granted I’ve read 3 of her books). This book has such a perfect ending. The story is that a story and it doesn’t try to do too much.
