This would be a great book club pick. The novel adeptly navigates complex family dynamics, attachment theory, and healthy new love.

Really enjoyed the connection between Justin and Emma and the unconventional way they came together. The love story was really beautiful and made me smile a lot. It was a fun read with quirky, mundane, and relatable things. I like how most of what Justin and Emma did together was pretty ordinary and not always over the top. Being from the Midwest and familiar with MN, it felt like their relationship made sense with the landscape.
An issue I have with their story is how Justin had literally zero flaws. And Emma has one huge one that seemingly gets resolved when her best friend says one simple thing to her about her mental health. That’s when the story began to feel rushed to the conclusion. I felt the pacing of the romance moved too quickly as well, especially for Emma who is a self proclaimed runner that never forms deep romantic connections. Just seemed a little out of place. Otherwise I really enjoyed this book!

To say I was disappointed in this book would be an understatement. The characters in this book felt all thrown around.
Like Neil coming back why? That was a really dumb move I didn’t like Emma at all,  Not sure if that was the point but she was kinda insufferable. She also came really out of nowhere. I didn’t like that she chose to write this story with Justin. I read the three books in the series in secession and I could not even remember who Justin was until they mention Brad and Benny.  I was hoping for Benny’s story or something.  For 90% of the story nothing happened. Justin was sweet but he didn’t deserve the things Emma did to him. I never understood how people can forgive each other so quickly as soon as the person  that hurt them says I love you I also never understood the whole love at first sight thing but to each their own

The cover and title scream light-hearted romance but this was so emotional I had to stop it multiple times. I stand by my opinion that romance novels are less about romance and more about the relationships the characters have with family/found family.
