Anywho, this book is amazing. I love the way they find each other, the ways that they realize they are the right people at the wrong time, and how they work through it all. Another must read, as all her books are.
Minor: Child abuse, Emotional abuse, Mental illness, Medical content, Fire/Fire injury, Abandonment, and Injury/Injury detail

“Am I the asshole?”
🛶 First person Dual POV
🛶 Guardian to younger siblings
🛶 Travel nurse who can’t stay in one place
🛶 Emma and Justin are cursed. Everyone they’ve dated, and broken up with, has found their soulmate immediately. So why not try dating each other for a few weeks, break up and meet their own soulmates? If only it were that simple.
🛶 Insta-chemistry / fate
🛶 Slow burn / tension 🔥
🛶 Found family
🛶 ALL the acts of service, ‘mundane’ demonstrations of love 🥹
🛶 A heart-aching representation of a daughter breaking herself, and denying herself of happiness to put her mother first in the hopes that she will love her back. Beautifully written.
🛶 Well established secondary characters: Alexis & Daniel (Book 1), Brianna & Jacob (Book 2), Benny, Brad, links to characters from other series
🛶 MC Growth: trust, risking a relationship, childhood trauma, past relationship trauma, self worth, abandonment/avoidant attachment
🛶 Considerate representation of mental illness
🛶 Epilogue
🛶 On my comfort reads list 😍
🛶 I sobbed. In the best way.
Available on Kindle, Audible, and paperback.

As someone who has a very very toxic mother, I related so much to the struggles of Emma dealing with Amber. Wanting to give the benefit of the doubt for someone who is supposed to love you and you’re supposed to love in return, when sometimes it comes down to what is best for you - not what you are expected or feel obligated to do. It really reminded me of the weight childhood trauma can have on us, even into adulthood.
With that being said, the support systems Emma has in this story make all of the difference, as they do for anyone in “real life”. Having friends, family, or relationships around you to say the hard things and bring you through it, or to simply say, “yeah, they suck” and have your back through it all. That can change everything.
And of course, what choices we make next for ourselves. We can choose to stay in it, stuck, or you can take a step, and do the next right thing, whatever that may be for yourself.
This book was very healing and wholesome for me. Granted, I cried through probably 50% of it, but a relatable, “I feel so seen”, cry.
Maddy is a kickass friend. Justin is a kickass human. Emma is a strong, strong woman.
