I'm gradually adding books I've read in 2021 to give a true reflection of the books I've read since keeping records.  This was the first book I read in 2021, and is what kick-started my reading journey having put reading on the  back burner whilst bringing up the children,  previously being an avid reader.
A gunman takes the women and doctors a a controversial abortion clinic hostage. It's a story written in reverse and for me at times repetitive and didn't really work. It was hard to get your head round to begin with. As usual the author has researched well and gives both sides of the argument pro choice and pro life. I'm more of a pro Women's rights/life but it was interesting to consider the opposing views. I've read a few of the authors books now a d this is my lowest scoring and least favourite read. Not Eve so much the subject matter, more the backwards plotting of it.

This was emotionally hard to read. The writer again scores a home run with the omniscient narrator. It was an especially important topic to get that 360° perspective of every single character.

Initially, the backward timeline felt novel and even natural to the storyline, but the further back we went in the day, the more entirely fatiguing I found the book. But this was the only way to understand why and how we got to where the book had started. There’s also a bit of a twist that changes how I see three of the characters.

Appreciate the author’s note at the end too.
