If you’re new here, welcome! We are A Novel Concept, a women-owned independent bookstore in Lansing, Michigan. We host an annual reading challenge that connects to our monthly book club. Rather than selecting one book for everyone to read each month, we simply provide the prompts and invite you to make your own selections. Each prompt has been thoughtfully crafted to challenge your literary boundaries, encouraging you to delve into genres and authors you may have not explored before. Throughout the year, we will provide recommendations, host discussions, and generally foster a vibrant community of book enthusiasts. 

You'll notice that some of the prompts align with national heritage, history, or awareness months, while others may seem loosely aligned or not aligned at all. In an effort to keep things relatively fresh, we change our list of prompts every year. We want this list to include challenges that encourage reflective and iterative approaches to reading from different angles, rather than producing the same recycled prompts over and over. We encourage you to combine these prompts with any others that are meaningful to you throughout the year!
