 Dear Reader,

Welcome to my God Mode Reading Challenge! This is the challenge for all the mythology girlies obsessed with the gods and goddesses of yore. There are 9 prompts to get your mythology fix! To keep it light, only 5 prompts are compulsory the rest are bonus ones. But not so fast. This isn't just an excuse to re-read Percy Jackson or cry for the eighth time over The Song of Achilles. This challenge isn't god mode because it'll be easy and familiar. There are prompts to read mythology stories outside of the Western narrative. You're safe to read non-fiction books if you want to come at the topic from an academic side, but I definitely encourage you to read fictional stories based on the mythologies/lore of these different ancient cultures (of course, written by authors that are descended from those cultures would be preferable). You can read retellings or modern fantasy stories that incorporate the mythology. Mythology, folklore, legends whatever you want to call it, it's fair game.

I've added many books to each prompt to give you some options, but you're more than welcome to read whatever book you want to fulfill the prompt requirements! I also tried to be as inclusive as I could when it came to mental health, disability, BIPOC, plus-size, religious, and LGBTQIA+ representation in the books and the authors (while trying to also include books with protagonists aged 13 to 40).They're not recommendations from me, but ones I found to fit the criteria. That being said, some of these books could be terrible, and some of them could be problematic (which I tried really hard to sus out but I'm only human). I tried to only include books that had a rating of 3.30 or higher just to be sure, but that's no guarantee.

Unless the prompt strictly states is YA, it's possible that there are YA, NA, or smutty books in any of the other prompts (for instance, there's likely to be YA and NA and smut in the romance-related prompts), so always check a book and its trigger warnings before reading. Unlike my other challenges, try not to use one book for more than one prompt.

Happy Reading!
