Readers of Europe

Hosted by ameliasbooks

2 participants, 12 books added

Starts: Saturday, 01 January 2022

Ends: Saturday, 31 December 2022

Please read the books in any language they are available in and which is available to you. And if you would like to choose another book from that country instead, just go for it, because unfortunately some of these books are only published in their original language. In case you are interested, you can also discover more books via Eureka, the online catalogue of the Council libraries.

The Council Library has chosen to devote the third edition of its annual Readers of Europe initiative to new and emerging European literary talent.

Throughout the summer the permanent representations to the EU have recommended books to read from their countries.

As 2022 has been designated the European Year of Youth, the theme for this year’s campaign is ‘Discover something new’. Many of the permanent representations have selected authors who have published their first work within the last five years, alongside a few books by more established authors worth checking out.

Europe is awash with exciting authors. Dive into this selection and discover stories that hum with fresh ideas and luminous prose. Stories that are edgy and beautiful, gripping and unsettling. Stories worthy of a place in any library.
