Overview
I love sci fi and have searched the web far and wide for adult sci fi books with trans protagonists or deuteragonists. was purposefully staying away from anthologies/ short story collections. Decided to make it a public challenge because there weren’t any trans sci fi challenges here yet. if i didn’t include a popular book i either haven’t heard of it yet or i read the description and thought it sounded boring.
(boring update stuff 7/16/24)
some clarifications:
1. this is a sci fi challenge, not a fantasy challenges. while there is overlap, they are different genres.
2. the idea was book with trans protagonists, not books with cis protagonists that happen to be written by trans people.
of course you can add whatever you want to whichever challenge and i can’t stop you, this is just for fun! i just started this challenge to expose others and myself to more sci fi books with trans protagonists, and seeing non sci-fi books and books with no trans characters on some of these lists is weird to me lol.
i also removed and hid the book “frankissstein” by jeanette winterson from the challenge (i was originally the one who added it bc i thought it looked cool) because of reviews from trans men saying that the book was weird and fetish-y about the transmasc protagonist. i also learned that the cis author opposes gender affirming care for trans kids, so i really don’t want to read her writing about trans people!
