Die for You by Lauren Jackson

Did not finish book. Stopped at 83%.
This book came to me as a subscription through Bookish and Spice. The special edition truly looks stunning and is the most beautiful book in my current collection.

However, I wish I had left it as a simple decorative book for the shelf.

Reading it, it reminds me heavily of Twilight. A teenage girl becomes rather quickly infatuated with a vampire. I would consider it a guilty pleasure to read: highly predictable with a weak plot line, not needing to think too hard about it. Think of it like Days of Our Lives: you can miss multiple episodes yet watch the next one and still know what is happening. I feel like I could have skipped multiple chapters in the book and still know exactly what happened.

There were quite a few cons with me:
- I wasn’t a fan of the writing style. It felt rushed in some areas yet too slow in others
- MFC was constantly contradictory in her behaviour, leading to frustration and confusion
- supernatural powers are not well explained
- mentions of other supernatural beings yet none are in the storyline
- Dante’s story offers no support to the overall plot and was really random, leading to confusion
- setting is Australia, yet it feels incredibly American with very few Australian attributes

Pros:
- an easy read, no thinking needed
- if you enjoy Twilight still as an adult, you will most likely enjoy this

Overall I give this book a ⭐️⭐️/5. The plot holes, the confusing explanations and terrible writing of characters led me to DNF.
