This book was fantastically written.

It starts with the solid foundation created by the first two books, picking up not long after where Jade War left off, and with the slow and measured pace that this series has established builds up to an incredible crescendo and finale. All of the plot lines created throughout the trilogy are tied up, arcs are completed, and we’re given a very satisfying conclusion to this epic tale that spans the course of something like 30 years. (I’m bad at math)

Honestly, this book made me completely rethink my reviews of Jade City and Jade war. I don’t necessarily think I disagree with my first impressions upon reading those books. But I do think, now, that I was looking at the storytelling and story construction from the wrong point of view, with the wrong expectations.

In retrospect, with a better understanding of the scope of the story being told after having read Jade Legacy, I appreciate Jade City and Jade War much more than I did at first.

This trilogy is beautifully written and executed. The storytelling is meticulously done and the crafting of the characters and various plot lines is amazing.

This trilogy is definitely in my top ten favorite reads of the year.
