Full Throttle: Stories by Joe Hill

4.5

4.5 stars rounding up to 5 for GoodReads. There was only one story in this entire collection of many that I really didn't like/ wouldn't give more than 3.5 stars. I am actually blown away by how drawn I am to Hill's short story writing. I have enjoyed his novels in the past but nothing has ever completely rocked my socks off. However, his short fiction is quite incredible. After 20th Century Ghosts and now this collection, I think I am officially deeming Hill as one of my favorite horror short story writers. I loved the way he played with form in this collection especially the story written entirely in tweets. That one will be one that sticks with me for a while. The audiobook was narrated by a different person for each story which initially threw me off quite heavily as I felt like I always had to keep readjusting. But by the end, I grew to love it and it was a great way to make each story individual. There is a heavy theme of grief throughout the entire collection which is a topic I think Hill tackles fantastically well from all different perspectives. I can't wait to read Strange Weather very soon and continue on my Hill journey!
