Did Jesus Exist?: The Historical Argument for Jesus of Nazareth by Bart D. Ehrman

4.0

I liked this book. I don't read a lot of Biblical studies, but I did a couple of courses as an undergrad. It was nice to get reacquainted with the field, being reminded of some stuff and learning other stuff. I read the book because I wanted to know how an historian would answer mythicists - and I wasn't disappointed. Ehrman does a good job presenting the evidence needed for responsibly establishing the fact of Jesus' existence and a minimal account of who he was. As an Evangelical I found I couldn't quite get on board with everything, but I'm pretty sure I could go along a fair bit longer than some of those dreaded "conservative Evangelicals" Ehrman keeps referring to. This is a good and necessary book.
