The Perks of Being a Wallflower by Stephen Chbosky

5.0

i can’t believe i first read this book when i was 13 years old. and here we are, 9 years later, doing it all again. and guess what? still hurts.

i truly consider this book the foundation of my taste in books. i was always a reader as a kid, but it wasn’t until perks that i actually felt something. coming of age stories are always my favorite, and this is why.

i see so much of myself in charlie but also in every other character. and i think that is why this book is so powerful and why so many people love it — everyone is able to relate to at least one character.

i really can’t put into words how much this book means to me. it resonated with me as an eighth grader 9 years ago, and it resonates with me as a college graduate now. it’s a book i will cherish forever.

also logan lerman, love of my life, you absolutely embodied the role of charlie, and for that i am eternally grateful.
