Boy Meets Boy by David Levithan

3.0

This book only took me a couple of hours to read and those were some well spent hours. At first I thought the book was too much like Levithan's other books because of the similar names of the characters but there are some differences, even though not much tbh.
His writing is good and his books are lovely to read but most of his characters are too much alike. If you've read one of his books, you've basically read them all. And although i've thought this for a while i keep coming back to his books and it doesn't stop me from reading every single one, so obviously he does have something that i crave and like.

the fact that this book was published 2003 though, that's a huge deal. I mean, he's writing about all these various sexualities and they are written as totally normal, as a norm in society and that is a very groundbreaking thing. Most of his characters feel a bit like they only exist to be representatives of his big sexual-fest going on, but some of them actually have more than just their sexuality, so his writing does have potential to become something more, and I can see from his newer books that he has developed in that particular area.

I mean after all, this is a love story, so of course there's going to be a lot about sexuality and love in it, and in that case, it works in an excellent way.

i also wanted to comment on some very cool description he wrote
"Her glasses are the color of licorice."
and also the line
"Seeing Kyle always takes some of the volume out of my soundtrack."
