The Way of the Househusband, Vol. 3 by Kousuke Oono

4.0

I'm enjoying these more and more! I know the selling point of this series is "scary yakuza man does housework in the most menacing ways" but I'm becoming more and more enamoured with the other aspects -- how unabashedly devoted Tatsu is to his wife; how the two of them share a single brain cell when they're together and it's BEAUTIFUL; the pleasure he takes in his cooking and knitting and cleaning. I laughed out loud just as much as I went "aww oh my God that's so sweet".

The art continues to be really clean and appealing, switching effortlessly between adorable kawaii designs and dramatic crime manga style. Great uses of low angles whenever Tatsu forgets himself and gets a little too intense.

Sadly I had to skip a volume because my not-so-local comic book was sold out (and I remember they had a bunch when I went there earlier), so apparently this is quite a hit in Norway too. The short-and-to-the-point storytelling works to its advantage in that regard: I had no issue skipping a volume, I still knew who everyone was and what their deal was, and I laughed even harder at this than volume 1.
