Havoc by Debra Anastasia

“Love was pain where I was from. And I was in so much love I wanted to die.”

I fell in love with Debra Anastasia when I read Mercy. After reading that, I was hooked on her writing; it was the best read of my 2022. I was excited knowing it was a series and Havoc focused on Animal.

During Mercy, Animal left such a trail in my mind that I wanted to get to know him. I definitely did get to know him in Havoc.
What I love with Debra's writing is how she tells her character stories. Their life, past, and trauma and how she describes their emotions and actions and how they all grow throughout the years. She never made them perfect, but she gave them a hell of a growth that gave people hope.

I think I am biased on how much I love Nix and Becca and that my love for Animal and T is second. hehe
We see a parallel between two different people, Animal and T, in their childhood, family relationship, and love and trust.
The timeline of the book, of course, sets somewhere in the middle of Mercy and continues from them. The involvement of Nix and Becca does not take away the focus of Animal and T, but it sets up our understanding of how their families work.

I love reading about Animal's childhood seeing an unfiltered story of what he goes through, his feelings and his relationship with Merck is heartwarming. The push and pull of T and Animal's relationship, I love that it wasn't an instant love kind of situation; if you read it, you understand. It wasn't a straight-line plotline; we hit a few bumps.
