The Red Scholar's Wake by Aliette de Bodard
Did not finish book. Stopped at 20%.
DNFed at like 20% January 2023
I’m so sad I could not get behind this sapphic sci fi. It had all the elements of something I could fall in love with however I could not get behind the couple.
While I think they would have made a great couple there was barely any real development. And I’m saying this as someone who only read the first 20%. What I mean is that the characters (who should straight up dislike each other, or one character should straight up hate the other one who destroyed her ship and took away her right to go home and see her child) and they’re already liking each other. Like no thank you. Not for me. It didn’t make sense that they were already Liking each other straight away. It put me off and I couldn’t get further into the story so I decided to DNF it.
