The Swallowtail Legacy 1 by Michael D. Beil

4.0

This was a solid Middle-Grade mystery! Lark arrives on Swallowtail island with her large blended family shortly after the death of her mother, and over the course of the summer, she not only solves a mystery that's been buried for the last 75 years, but she does a lot of emotional growth and starts to realize that she and her little sister Pip will be ok.

I thought the ending was a bit crazy, but it was adventurous and fun, and I think the intended target audience will enjoy it. I just started Book 2 (thank you to NetGalley for the ARC), and I look forward to seeing where the next story takes Lark and her lovable group of family and friends.
