Fun romp through a magical city, with magical beings, mages, and monsters; all the while dealing with greed, ambition, and the question I often ask myself: Does it make any sense to be kind in the capitalist world we live in, which time and time again rewards brutality, aggression, and stepping on corpses to get ahead? The book doesn't take itself very seriously, and I appreciate my fun with a side of poignance. Characters are lovable, even if not developed all that well.
